Alumni Hunter Garlent and Michael Clarke Named AUS First Team All-Stars

Atlantic University Sport (AUS) announced on Wednesday that Petes alumni Hunter Garlent and Michael Clarke were named First Team All-Stars for the 2017-18 AUS Men’s Hockey season.

Garlent is a second year forward at Saint Mary’s University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He recorded 10 goals, 31 assists, and 41 points in 30 regular season games for the Huskies this season. He led the AUS in shots (141), and was third in overall scoring. Garlent is second in scoring in the ongoing AUS playoffs, with 2 goals, 4 assists, and 6 points in 5 games.


This marks the second consecutive season that Garlent is named a First Team All-Star. He was also AUS Men’s Hockey Rookie of the Year for 2016-17. The Thorold, Ontario native appeared in 145 games for the Petes between 2013-2016, amassing 71 goals, 86 assists, and 157 points.

Clarke is a third year forward at St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. In 27 games for the X-Men this season, he registered 17 goals, 17 assists, and 34 points. In the AUS regular season, he was third in goals scored, fifth in power play goals (6), and fifth in game-winning goals (3). He scored 1 goal and 1 assists in 2 AUS 2018 playoff games.


The London, Ontario native collected 51 goals, 65 assists, and 116 points 151 games for the Petes between 2012-2015.

Both Garlent and Clarke were members of the U SPORTS All-Start that faced off against Canadian National Junior Team hopefuls in December 2017.
