The Owen Sound Attack edged the Petes 3-2 on Family Day Monday at the PMC in a 5 goal second period that saw the Attack jump out to a 3-0 lead.
Following a scoreless first period that saw Andrew D’Agostini make 24 saves including a huge toe save on Daniel Zweep to keep the game scoreless, the Attack finally solved D’Agostini at 8:28 of the 2nd period on a goal by Cody Ceci. Ceci gave the Attack a 2-0 lead at 12:40 and Kyle Hope made it 3-0 at 13:26, but the Petes never showed signs of quitting as Nick Ritchie got the Petes on the scoreboard at 16:46 and Stephen Pierog pulled the home team within a goal at 18:29 making the game 3-2 after 40 minutes.
Although the Petes would push, they couldn’t crack Brandon Hope for the equalizer in the third and would fall 3-2 to the Attack.
The Petes will now host Oshawa on Thursday before travelling to Belleville on Saturday and Oshawa on Sunday. Today’s loss, combined with a Kingston win over Mississauga leaves the Petes 4 points behind the Frontenacs and 6 points behind the Steelheads for the final 2 playoff spots in the Eastern Conference.
