Brandon Prophet Named 58th Captain in Peterborough Petes History

At a press conference and livestream event on Tuesday afternoon, Petes Head Coach Jody Hull announced the captains group for the 2016/17 season. The newest Petes captains are as follows:

Captain: Brandon Prophet (Defence #3)
Assistant Captains: Logan DeNoble (Centre #28), Kyle Jenkins (Defence #6), Steve Lorentz (Centre #16), and Matt Spencer (Defence #27)

Prophet was originally selected by the Saginaw Spirit in the second round, 32nd overall in the 2012 OHL Priority Selection. He was acquired by the Petes from the Barrie Colts during the 2015/16 season, and has been a leader on and off the ice since joining the Maroon and White.

The 6’3, 210lbs defenceman is the 58th captain in Peterborough Petes history, joining a strong group of alumni who have gone on to have great success on and off the ice. Prophet played minor hockey for the Upper Canada Cyclones with 2015/16 Petes captain Eric Cornel. See a full list of past captains here.

Peterborough native Logan DeNoble and fourth year defenceman Matt Spencer will start the year as assistant captains during home games, while overagers and Carolina Hurricanes draft picks Kyle Jenkins and Steve Lorentz will start the season as road game assistant captains.
