Petes Acquire Conditional Pick for Rights to Jonne Tammela

Peterborough Petes General Manager Mike Oke announced on Tuesday that the team has acquired a conditional pick from the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds in exchange for the Ontario Hockey League rights to centre Jonne Tammela.

10 Tammela, JonneTammela was originally selected 15th overall by the Petes in the 2015 CHL Import Draft. The 5’10”, 180lbs native of Ylivieska, Finland appeared in two games for the Petes during the 2016-17 season, registering 1 goal. He was drafted in the 4th round, 118th overall by the Tampa Bay Lightning.

In exchange for his rights, the Petes have acquired a conditional 15th round pick in 2018 from the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds. If Tammela appears in one game for the Greyhounds, the pick will become Sault Ste. Marie’s 3rd round pick in 2022.

“Having solidified the overage spots on our roster, and with real uncertainty as to whether Jonne would be able to return to the OHL, this move allows us to secure a draft pick,” commented Oke. “If he does come back, we’ll be compensated for it.”

The Petes host the Guelph Storm this Thursday, January 11 at 7:05pm for the only time this season. Game tickets are available starting at $8 through the Collins Barrow PMC Box Office, online or, by phone at (705) 743-3561.

Petes Holiday Flex Packs are available while supplies last. Receive four regular bowl flex vouchers to be used between now and January 20, as well as two Petes rocks glasses for just $59.99, a savings of over 40%.
