Petes beat Bulls 4-3 in shootout to open 2013

The Peterborough Petes opened 2013 with a 4-3 shootout win over the Belleville Bulls in a rare 5pm start time at the Yardman arena in Belleville.

Greg Betzold opened the scoring for the Petes 5:23 into the second period, but the Bulls came back to even the game on the powerplay when Jordan Subban beat Andrew D’Agostini.  Brandon Devlin restored the Petes lead less than 2 minutes later for his first goal in a maroon and white jersey since coming over in a trade from the Windsor Spitfires in November, but the Bulls again tied the game and went ahead 3-2 on goals by Brendan Gaunce at 16:22 and Joseph Cramarossa at 17:35 to hold a 3-2 lead after 40 minutes.

Stephen Nosad scored the lone goal of the 3rd period driving the net to finish off a pass from Brett Findlay forcing overtime and the eventual shootout.

In the Shootout Francis Menard scored the lone goal as the Petes third shooter and Andrew D’Agostini was perfect in the Petes net stopping all 3 Bulls shooters including ending Jordan Subban’s shootout streak of 5 goals on 5 attempts.

The Petes and Bulls will now go right back at it on Thursday when the BUlls visit the Memorial Centre at 7pm.
