Petes Continue Support of Cystic Fibrosis Canada in May
In recognition of Cystic Fibrosis Month in May, the Petes are continuing to support the Cystic Fibrosis Canada Peterborough Chapter by participating in two events in the coming weeks.
On Thursday, May 25, Petes players, coaches, and prospects will suit up as celebrity servers at East Side Mario’s in support of the cause. From 5-8pm, East Side Mario’s will donate 15% of all proceeds to CARSTAR Walk to Make Cystic Fibrosis History. 8 year old CF warrior Ashlynne McGuigan will assist the Petes throughout the evening.
The CARSTAR Walk to Make Cystic Fibrosis History is scheduled for Sunday, May 28 at Nicholls Oval in Peterborough. Registration for the event starts at 9am and the walk begins at 10am, with family activities, raffles and a BBQ planned for the event. Register online or sponsor a walker, including Petes alumnus Andrew D’Agostini, by visiting www.cysticfibrosis.ca/walk.
Cystic Fibrosis is the most common fatal, genetic disease affecting Canadian children and young adults. Cystic fibrosis affects the lungs and digestive system, causing thick sticky mucous in these systems and derailing normal function. People with Cystic Fibrosis follow strict daily routines through medication, Physiotherapy, lung clearance exercise and nutrition.
