Petes Prospects Perform at 2018 OHL Gold Cup

Nine Petes prospects, the second most of all OHL clubs, participated in the 2018 OHL Gold Cup in Kitchener over the weekend.

Will Cuylle, Peterborough’s 1st round, 3rd overall pick in the 2018 OHL Priority Selection, led the annual event in goals scored (5), including 2 in an 8-2 Team GTHL Blue victory over Team GTHL Red in the championship game on Sunday afternoon. He finished the tournament with 5 goals (including 1 game winning and one short handed), 0 assists, and 5 points (tied for 4th in event scoring).

Winning silver with Team GTHL Red were 4th round, 75th overall selection Shawn Spearing and 5th round, 83rd overall pick Matthew Perciballi (1 assist).

2nd round, 23rd overall selection Cameron Butler was also tied for 4th in event scoring with 3 goals, 2 assists, and 5 points in 4 games. Butler’s Team OMHA Black won bronze with a 7-3 decision over Team OMHA White which featured 7th round, 123rd overall selection Jakson Kirk (3 goals, 1 assist). Jack Bar, Peterborough’s 3rd round, 52nd overall pick and Luc Reeve (2 assists), selected in the 8th round, 143rd overall, were also members of Team OMHA Black.

Sheldon Serraglio (8th round, 150th overall) had 1 assist for Team ALLIANCE, who fell 4-3 in a shootout to Team HNO in the consolation final.

Goaltender and 3rd round, 43rd overall pick Tye Austin made 56 saves over 2 games with Team HEO, earning a 5.52 goals against average and .836 save percentage.
