Zach Gallant performs at NHL Combine

Petes forward Zach Gallant put up excellent numbers at the 2017 NHL Scouting Combine on the weekend in Buffalo, impressing scouts with top-10 rankings in six of fifteen categories. The combine gave Gallant, along with 103 other prospects, the opportunity to showcase themselves for all 31 NHL teams ahead of the 2017 NHL Draft, which will be held at United Center in Chicago on June 23-24.

Gallant, who is ranked as the 73rd projected pick in the Draft by TSN’s Director of Scouting Craig Button, achieved top-25 finishes in the following tests:

  • T-2nd – Pull Ups (consecutive) – 12
  • 4th – Wing Span – 79 inches
  • 5th – Left Hand Grip – 149lb
  • 6th – Aerobic Fitness (test duration) – 15:30
  • T-8th – VO2Max (maximum oxygen usage) – 57.0 (ml/kg/min)
  • T-9th – Right Hand Grip – 140lb
  • 19th – Standing Long Jump – 105.5 inches

“I had a great experience at the NHL combine,” noted Gallant. “It was a once in a life time opportunity where I had the chance to speak with numerous NHL scouts and general managers. I was able to share the experience with friends and teammates that I had played with growing up. It was an incredible week and I am very thankful to have been selected to take part.”

The Oakville, Ontario native was Peterborough’s first round selection in the 2015 OHL Priority Selection. He set career highs last season with 21 goals, 26 assists and 47 points in 68 games played, and was the team’s leading playmaker with 8 assists in 12 playoff games.

Petes prospect Cameron Crotty also took part in the combine, along with other notable OHL players including Peterborough native Owen Tippett (Mississauga) and Mastercard Memorial Cup Champion goaltender Michael DiPietro (Windsor).
