Colts out run Petes in Shootout

The Peterborough Petes over came a 3-1 third period deficit to tie the game and force overtime for the 3rd of 4 times this season between the two teams and an eventual shootout against the Barrie Colts on Thursday night at the PMC.

The Colts opened the scoring 13:44 into the game on a goal by Ivan Telegin and built a 2-0 lead 15 seconds later on a goal by Colin Behenna, however Peter Ceresnak got the Petes on the board before the end of the period scoring his 5th of the season at 17:14.

The Colts added to their lead 2:27 into the 3rd period on Telegin’s 2nd of the night, but the Petes roared back with a pair of goals by Nick Ritchie at 10:01 and Lino Martschini at 17:11 to force overtime.

The extra five minutes solved nothing and the two teams were headed for a shootout that was eventually solved on the 6th shooter for the Colts when Telegin beat D’Agostini for the win.

Next action for the Petes is Friday night in Kitchener when they take on the Rangers.  They return home for a 2pm match up with division rival Belleville Bulls on Sunday February 26th.
