Petes earn victory with 4-3 win in Ottawa

The Peterborough Petes earned their first victory of the season with a 4-3 win in Ottawa on Saturday night at Scotiabank Place.


The Petes built a 3-0 lead on goals by Zach Lorentz at 1:01 (1), Clark Seymour at 4:07 (1) and Francis Menard at 5:30 (2) before the 67’s replied just 15 seconds later by Taylor Fielding at 5:45.  The 67’s pulled within a goal when Cody Ceci beat Michael Giugovaz at 19:30 on a 5 on 3 power play to send the teams to the dressing room with the Petes leading 3-2.


Nick Ritchie (1) gave the Petes a 4-2 lead 1:16 into the second period with an unassisted marker that held up for the remainder of the period.


Ryan VanStralen again cut into the Petes lead just 19 seconds into the 3rd period and Michael Giugovaz closed the door for the Petes for the remainder of the game to give the Petes a 4-3 win.


Next action for the Petes is Thursday night when they host Connor McDavid and the Erie Otters at 7:05pm.
