The Peterborough Petes entered the 2017 OHL Priority Selection on the heels of their first East Division title since 2006 holding just two picks inside the draft’s opening three rounds.

Nick Robertson of the Toronto Red Wings was chosen 16th overall and represents the club’s latest first round pick since 2006 when future third overall NHL pick Zach Bogosian went 19th. The diminutive Robertson officially committed to the Petes in May a month after he was the smallest player taken in the first four rounds at 5.06, 135lb, but scored 18 goals and 18 assists for 36 points in just 32 games.

The Petes went for defence with their next pick choosing Cameron Supryka of the Quinte Red Devils.  The offensive blue liner had 28 points in 36 regular season contests and helped OMHA Black to a silver medal finish at the OHL Gold Cup in May.

Supryka has also officially committed to the club along with fellow defenceman Adrien Beraldo who was a fifth round pick in 2016.

The Petes also announced an off ice commitment post season with General Manager Mike Oke signing a two year contract extension through 2019-20.
