In celebration of the new year 2021, Petes fans are called to cast their vote to decide which Petes best represents their respective jersey number from 1 – 21. The top four players to wear each number will be showcased every day for 20 consecutive days and Petes fans will vote for who they believe wore it best!
Doug Evans is a local guy who wasn’t drafted to the OHL or the NHL but he made his mark in both leagues. He played for the Petes from 1980-84 and earned 309 points and spent 578 minutes in the penalty box. He signed with the St. Louis Blues as a free agent in 1985 and spent five seasons there before spending three seasons with the Winnipeg Jets. However, he spent the majority of his time with the Peoria Rivermen of the IHL.
Wayne Boddy played for the TPT Petes in the organization’s earliest years, from 1957-61 under the coaching of Scotty Bowman. Boddy was captain of the Petes from 1960-61.
Jason Williams played for the Petes from 1996-2000 and registered 194 points. He played 12 years in the NHL and won the Stanley Cup with the Detroit Red Wings in the 2001-02 season.
Jordan Staal is 1/4 of a brother dynasty. He played for the Petes from 2004-06 and was drafted second overall to the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. He played in CHL Top Prospects Game in 2006 and won a gold medal with Team Canada at the World Hockey Championship in 2007. At the NHL level, he was a Calder Trophy finalist in 2007 and won a Stanley Cup with the Penguins in 2009. He is now the captain of the Carolina Hurricanes.
* Predetermined players that fans are voting on have been selected from 1956 – 2019 (2019 is the player’s final season with the Petes).
* Many of these players have worn multiple jersey numbers while playing for the Petes, these players will not show up to be voted on for each number they have worn. They will only show up and be made available to vote for on one of their Petes jersey numbers.
