Dylan Wells and Jonathan Ang are headed south of the border while Declan Chisholm makes his way west ahead of this week’s Hockey Canada camps after receiving invites in June.
Wells and Ang will take part in the 2017 World Junior Summer Showcase at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Michigan as part of Hockey Canada’s National Junior Team Sport Chek Summer Development Camp. Along with over 40 other prospects, they’ll practice on Sunday, July 30 and Monday, July 31 before being named to either Team Canada Red or White. Each team will play one game on Tuesday, August 1 (Team Red at 4:08pm; Team White at 7:18pm), followed by a combined roster of players representing Team Canada for the remainder of the tournament.
Team Canada’s game schedule will be as follows:
Wednesday, August 2 – vs. Finland – 1:08pm
Friday, August 4 – vs. Sweden – 1:08pm
Saturday, August 5 – vs. USA – 7:18pm
The final three days of the showcase will be televised on TSN and NHL Network. TSN and NHL Network’s coverage concludes with two of the biggest rivalry games in the sport on Sat., Aug. 5, with Sweden facing Finland at 4 p.m., and USA taking on Canada at 7:18pm. In Calgary, Chisholm takes to the ice with Team Red in for the National Men’s Under-18 Selection Camp. The camp will begin with practices taking place Friday, July 28 through Sunday, July 30, followed by three intrasquad games.
Following the intrasquad games, Hockey Canada will announce the roster that will represent Canada at the 2018 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup, with exhibition play beginning on Saturday, August 5 in the Czech Republic and round robin play beginning on Monday, August 7.
