Schulz and Isaacson Commit to Petes

Peterborough Petes General Manager Michael Oke announced today that centre Eddie Schulz and left wing Nick Isaacson have signed Standard Player Agreements and scholarship packages ahead of Saturday night’s pre-season opener against the Hamilton Bulldogs.

Schulz, a 6’1”, 182lbs centre from Erin, Ontario was selected by the Petes in the fifth round, 89th overall in the 2014 OHL Priority Selection. He played for the Strathroy Rockets of the GOJHL during the 2014/15 season. Eddie is a product of the Halton Hurricanes minor hockey program, serving as captain in his final three years with the Canes.

“It’s a dream come true to commit to the Petes – everyone wants to play in the OHL and I’m ecstatic to be here,” noted Schulz. “Obviously I’m a rookie and I need to know my spot, but anything I can do to help the guys win, I’m excited to do that.”

“We’re excited that Eddie has chosen to commit to the Petes and the Ontario Hockey League,” added Oke. “We have monitored his development closely over the course of last season, and during this week’s camp he showed improvement in all areas of his game. He plays the role of a dependable, two-way forward.”

Isaacson, Peterborough’s fifth round pick (86th overall) in 2015, is a 6’1.5”, 180lbs left winger from Toronto, Ontario. He played his minor midget season with the Mississauga Reps AAA program in the GTHL. Nick’s uncle Paul McInnes was a first round OHL draft pick (Niagara Falls, 1992).

“During camp I tried to play my best in all the games and I knew if I put in hard work good things would happen,” reflected Isaacson.

Oke noted that “Nick plays a ‘power-forward’ style of game. Throughout training camp we were impressed with all aspects of his development and are excited that he’s chosen to commit to the Petes and the OHL. We look forward to him being a part of our organization moving forward.”

The Petes made six additional roster moves on Saturday morning, reassigning or releasing the following players:

  • Cameron Crotty (D – PBO’s 7th Rnd., 136th overall, 2015) – Brockville Braves Jr. A
  • Derek Elliott (RW – Free Agent)
